Luxembourg: The financial centre for UCITS
Undertakings for collective investments in transferable securities, also known as UCITS, have grown in prominence over the last 25 years. As the first country to implement the UCITS Directive, which created a single market for funds in Europe, Luxembourg quickly established itself as the gateway for these instruments. 23,197 share classes have been listed at LuxSE since 1962, making our exchange one of the most experienced in this area.
Listing a UCITS offers numerous benefits. Asset managers have greater scope to market their securities. They also have access to a secondary market for funds through our OPTIQ trading platform.
Opening doors within the European Union
The term UCITS is used to describe collective investment schemes that fall within the scope of the UCITS Directive 85/611/CE of 20 December, 1985.
A European passport is a key aspect of the UCITS regime. Once approved by a home state regulatory authority, a UCITS can be sold to the general public and registered for distribution anywhere in the EU. This significantly reduces the time spent launching a UCITS fund in multiple markets, as well as reducing the associated costs.

Compilations of Luxembourg Investment Fund Laws & Regulations
The Luxembourg Stock Exchange in cooperation with the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) proposes a 2017 edition of the UCTIS compilations of texts related to investment fund laws and regulations in Luxembourg.
UCITS Laws & Regulations
This compilation is dedicated to undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities (UCITS) established under Luxembourg law and contains the amended Law of 17 December 2010 on undertakings for collective investment as well as the main regulatory texts relating thereto.
The compilations are available in French, German and English.
The UCITS compilation of texts are the fruit of an active cooperation between two local law firms, Arendt & Medernach and Elvinger Hoss Prussen, who have compiled the legal and regulatory texts and prepared the English and German translations.
