SEC Thailand to highlight “investor resilience” messages during the IOSCO World Investor Week 2022 campaign
World Investor Week is a global campaign promoted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to raise awareness about the importance of investor education and protection. The SEC Thailand has proactively taken part in this annual event for the sixth consecutive year. This year’s activities will be launched under the theme, “investor resilience” or “how can investors make their finances more resilient to the ever-changing context?” with a view to emphasizing the importance of money management knowledge and skills to cope with the unexpected in life. Key messages to be delivered include financial and investment planning, proper saving and investment methods, and self-protection from falling victim to financial frauds and scams.
Ms. Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol, SEC Secretary-General, said “Solid skills to make appropriate financial planning and money management, particularly during the current context of economic and financial volatilities around the world, would be a strong foundation for financial stability, both in terms of the people and the nation. Ability to build financial resilience would help people withstand those unexpected events, such as the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) incidence. Besides, proper investment skills with knowledge to protect oneself from frauds and scams would eventually help one’s savings grow, even during inflation, in the long-run, contributing to their achievement in the ultimate goal of life-long financial well-being.
During Thailand’s WIW 2022 campaign, the week of 2-8 October, the SEC Thailand will organize various online activities to reach out to target audiences, with the main activity being the virtual seminar on “Building Resilience to Cope with the Unexpected” to be held on 2 October 2022. The seminar program includes experience-sharing sessions by financial gurus and influencers on the latest financial issues, such as “As the World Changes, What Should We Learn About Money?” and “How to Invest to Beat Inflation?”.
Additionally, various media on money management and investment tips to cope with the changing financial situations will be publicized through the SEC and “Start-to Invest” Facebook pages throughout the week.
