Bank of Russia releases 2022 H2 Report on RUONIA Oversight Committee's Activity
The report presents the results of the monitoring and analytical review of RUONIA and RUONIA Averages and information on the movements of RUONIA and its use in financial instruments in the second half of 2022.
The Bank of Russia held meetings with market participants to discuss the cancellation of the MosPrime Rate. As a result, it was decided to transfer all effective MosPrime-based contracts to the use of RUONIA Averages adjusted for the five-year median spread between these two indicators.
RUONIA movements in 2022 H2 were representative of the demand and supply in the interbank market.
Over the period under review, the total amount of transactions included in the RUONIA calculation averaged 269.2 billion rubles, which was 66.7% more than over the previous six months.
In 2023, the Bank of Russia will help derivatives market participants switch from MosPrime to RUONIA and adjust the RUONIA methodology and the list of the RUONIA panel banks considering changes in the structure of the interbank market.
