Nearly 700,000 business people join Sberbank as its new clients in 2023
Nearly 700,000 businesses ― 454,000 sole proprietors and 214,000 legal entities ― chose Sberbank in 2023, a 14% raise from 586,000 (370,000 SPs and 216,000 LEs) in 2022.
The five fastest growing verticals in 2023 vs. 2022 were transportation and storage (+23% y-o-y), services (+20%), retail (+16%), real estate operations (+14%), and hotels and restaurants (+9%).
Anatoly Popov, deputy chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank:
Just like a year ago, retail has remained the most popular vertical among small businesses in Russia, picked by one in three people who started their business in 2023. Over one-half of these registered their companies in the e-com segment, which added 27% y-o-y. This trend is being driven by the growing popularity of marketplaces in Russia, which are increasingly cost-efficient in terms of commerce and more appealing to small businesses.
Business people are increasingly registering new businesses online. Online registrations soared to 40% at Sberbank, up from 37% a year ago, in the entire pool of new registrations. Since its inception, online business registration and account opening has been used by over 500,000 people. A service by Delovaya Sreda, a Sberbank subsidiary, helps you do the paperwork and forward documentation to the FTS of Russia to register sole proprietors and LLCs with one founder.
