Opportunities in Russian Fintech Discussed at INNOPROM-2024 Alpha-Bank Session
Alpha-Bank, a key partner of the international industrial exhibition INNOPROM-2024 in Yekaterinburg, hosted a session titled "Real Cases of Russian Fintech: Can Businesses Rely on Domestic Software?" as part of the event's business program. The session featured discussions with market leaders about the prospects of domestic IT solutions and showcased prominent fintech cases.
Key speakers at the session included Roman Chekushov, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; Alexey Fetisov, CEO of T1 Holding; Mikhail Srodnykh, CEO of SKB Kontur; Ilya Sivtsev, CEO of Astra Group; Stanislav Yodkovsky, CEO of IVA Technologies; Pavel Egorov, Product Director at YADRO; Alexander Gentsis, Board Member at Diasoft; and Dmitry Vitman, Head of Business Development and Infrastructure at Alpha-Bank.
Experts highlighted the progress being made in addressing one of the main challenges—settlements in foreign economic activities. Digital financial assets are already being employed to this end, emphasizing not only technological innovation but also the consistent application of these assets abroad. This point was underscored by Roman Chekushov, who also noted the importance of supporting the production sector that underpins the IT industry and aids in the development of software products.
"There are two main directions. The first involves internal support, where all radio-electronic products are a priority in technological leadership projects. A set of tools has been developed, and strategic sessions are being held under the Prime Minister's leadership to incorporate these tools into national projects. The second aspect is entering foreign markets. It is crucial to establish infrastructure abroad—financial, logistical, and trade-related. As part of the national project 'International Cooperation and Export,' a special project 'Overseas Infrastructure' is planned, which will be available to Russian exporters and importers," explained Roman Chekushov.
Participants also concluded that consumers are increasingly shifting towards domestic products. Many large enterprises are now comfortably using Russian software, and the number of such companies is growing.
"Competitive technology sectors in Russia are producing excellent products—there are numerous examples. The IT sector now has the opportunity to develop products that will reach the level of Russian banking. This process will take time, but I am optimistic about it. At our booth, we showcased products developed by Alpha-Bank for large businesses. One of the most promising, in my opinion, is A-Token, a platform for issuing digital financial assets," said Dmitry Vitman.
