Upcoming launch of the 2024-2025 edition of the "Generation €uro Students' Award" competition"
Information and launch meetings on Tuesday 15 October from 2:30pm to 4:00pm (in French) and on Friday 18 October from 2:30pm to 4:00pm (in English) at the BCL. You may register via this form.
Once again, the Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL) is joining forces with other national central banks in the euro area to organise the Eurosystem's "Generation €uro Students' Award" school competition.
The "Generation €uro" competition is open to secondary school students aged 16 to 19 who are interested in economics. They will compete in teams of three to five students supervised by a "coach" teacher. Participation is possible in English or French.
Once registered, teams will be able to take part in the first event, an online quiz with 30 questions that will be open until 6pm on 17 November 2024 on the competition's website www.generationeuro.eu. The best teams at the end of this event will qualify for the second event, in which the teams will have until 6pm on 20 January 2025 to propose a monetary policy decision in writing based on an analysis of the economic situation and of the monetary and financial situation in the euro area. The top three teams from this second round will participate in the final in March 2025, where they will have to explain to a jury of BCL experts the reasons for their new monetary policy decision.
All students taking part in the final of the competition will be awarded a prize and a certificate of achievement, and will have the opportunity to complete a summer internship at the BCL. In addition, the winning team will have the opportunity to participate in an organized study trip to Frankfurt, where they will be able to visit the European Central Bank as well as other institutions.
Two information and launch meetings will be organized at the BCL at 2, boulevard Royal, Luxembourg, on Tuesday 15 October from 2:30pm to 4:00pm (in French) and on Friday 18 October from 2:30pm to 4:00pm (in English).
For organizational reasons, teachers and students interested in attending this meeting should register via this form by 8 October at the latest. If you are unable to attend this meeting but are interested in receiving information on the organization of the competition, please do not hesitate to write to the same address, as videoconferences can be organized on a more convenient date.
